When Bethany looks back on her journey, she often reflects on one defining truth: Missouri Girls Town saw her for who she truly was — not just a case file, but a girl with
potential and purpose.

Before coming to our Campus, Bethany’s life was marked by unimaginable hardship. She endured physical and sexual abuse from her biological father, while her mother, struggling with addiction, was absent from her life. Overwhelmed by guilt, confusion and self-blame, Bethany coped through self-harm and suicide attempts.

After being removed from her home in her early teens, Bethany entered foster care — but stability remained out of reach. Within a single year, she cycled through five foster homes and four hospital stays. Each placement failed to meet her needs, leaving her feeling unseen and unwanted.

That changed when Bethany came to Missouri Girls Town. For the first time, she found people who truly listened — staff who met her where she was and helped her rebuild trust, hope, and self-worth. Through therapy, consistent support and daily structure, Bethany began to heal. She learned healthy coping skills and started to believe in her own future.

Today, Bethany is thriving. She successfully transitioned to a less restrictive setting, attends public school, holds a job, and continues therapy and support through our After Care Program. Her dream? To attend Mizzou and become a social worker — so she can help others, just as Missouri Girls Town helped her.

Bethany’s story is a reminder that healing happens when hope is restored — and that hope starts with you. Your generosity makes stories like Bethany’s possible.
